A Bold, New Approach to Education Reform
"I should long ago have ceased being surprised by anything The Mind Trust does...they are a remarkable organization...I continue to rub my eyes that Indiana and Indianapolis are lucky enough to host it." – Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels
A Bold, New Approach to Education Reform
"The islands of excellence that now exist in school districts have to become the norm. We need new solutions that improve outcomes—and that can, and will, be used to serve hundreds of thousands of teachers and millions of students. Said simply, we need to invest in growing what works as schools, as districts, as states, and as a country. That's why I applaud private efforts to encourage and focus philanthropic investments like The Mind Trust's Grow What Works campaign." - Arne Duncan, United States Secretary of Education

Our Opportunity
Grow What Works is a campaign led by The Mind Trust that seeks to raise $18 million to invest in the most promising, highest-impact education reform organizations in Indianapolis, enabling them to serve more students and accelerate change. The Mind Trust believes that aggressively growing these organizations is our community’s most promising strategy to invest in real, lasting reform, and will speed up the day when all students, regardless of their circumstances, receive an excellent education. To date, The Mind Trust has raised just over $9 million towards its goal.
Grow What Works was inspired by the United States Department of Education’s commitment to growing what works through its “Investing in Innovation” (i3) Fund, which was established to provide grants to expand innovative programs that are demonstrated to have a transformational impact on student academic achievement and attainment.
We are grateful for the generous support of Eli Lilly and Company, which has underwritten the full cost of the Grow What Works campaign's operating expenses. Click here to read about the joint announcement of the Grow What Works Campaign from Lilly and The Mind Trust.
